According to the World Health Organization over 2 billion people globally have lack access to safe clean drinking-water supplies. Diseases relating to unsafe water result in an estimated 1.7 million deaths occurring every year. Contaminated water can transmit diseases such as diarrhea, cholera, dysentery, typhoid, polio, Kidney failure.
In many remote communities, people have to rely on bacteria-infected streams and contaminated shallow wells, and in some areas from rivers teeming with crocodiles.
Our work is supporting the rural poor area of the country to ensure access to clean water for all.
We aim to provide safe, clean water to outreach communities in Sri Lanka, ensuring that schools have close access to clean water for drinking and food production for sustainable feeding.
The most important aspect in developing a school or community is to ensure that safe, clean drinking water is readily available. Without this, no real progress can be made.
